Thursday 10 April - Saturday 12 April 2014
8th International Workshop on X-ray Radiation Damage to Biological Crystalline Samples
The organisers warmly invite you to attend this workshop to be held at the EMBL and DESY, Hamburg, Germany from 13:00 on 10th April until 13:00 on 12th April 2014.
This series of workshops was originally concerned with the effects of radiation damage during investigation of protein structures by X-ray crystallography. Other techniques of structural biology are now being included to ensure greater information exchange. The workshop will therefore be of interest to all those using ionising radiation to examine biological structures at the molecular level.
The workshop will consist of approximately 25 invited presentations grouped into the sessions listed in the preliminary programme which can be accessed on this website. Each talk will be between 20-25 minutes long, with ample time being reserved for questions and dialogue. To optimise the chance for open discussion of the topics, attendance will be limited to around 70 participants.
The seven previous workshops in this series were held in
1999 (ESRF, Grenoble),
2001 (APS, Chicago),
2003 (ESRF, Grenoble),
2006 (SPring-8, Japan),
2008 (SLS, Switzerland),
2010 (SSRL, USA), and
2012 (DLS, UK),
and some of the papers presented at all the workshops except the first one have been published in six corresponding special issues of the Journal of Synchrotron Radiation.
We look forward to seeing you in Hamburg for discussion of the latest results and the exchange of ideas, as well as for predicting possible future challenges!
With best wishes from
